Greetings to you from Goodbye Leprosy Trust,
The GoodBye Leprosy Trust (GBLT) was set up on August 6, 2013. Its founding trustees are five organisations with leprosy control as their core area of work.
Its vision is to reduce stigma and discrimination against people affected by leprosy through communication, assure their physical, social, and psychological well-being, prevent the disease from spreading and eventually see a leprosy-free India. A brief brochure giving details of our work is enclosed for your perusal.
Status of leprosy cases in India
- 58.85% of new leprosy cases in the world are in India.
- 1.26 lakh new cases of leprosy were reported in India during 2014-15.
- 11,365 new cases of leprosy during 2014-15 were children. More than 10% of new cases detected were children.
- 46,379 new cases of leprosy during 2014-15 were women.
As part of our on-going fundraising efforts, we are planning a charity musical event of “RAJU HAZIR HO” – A live comedy show by Raju Shrivastava on Sunday, 29thNovember, 2015.
